The Kalalau Trail along the Na Pali coast of Kauai is an incredible hiking experience that everyone should try and do at least once.  Check out the pictures to get some inspiration and do the hike yourself!

Check out the write up over at Unreal Hawaii for more details about equipment and the hike Here.

Before hiking past Hanakapi’ai Beach, you will need to get backpacking permits from the Hawaii DLNR.  You can order the permits Here.  The DLNR website also has a ton of great information on how to prepare and what to expect on the hike.

During the summer, it’s also popular to kayak the 11 mile coastline to Kalalau Beach instead of doing the hike.  This is only possible during the summer months when the ocean is calm.  There are many kayak rental options but I’ve heard lots of good things about Na Pali Kayak.
